Mona Yadav, young mother
During community health sessions in Kalyanpura, the team met Mona Yadav, a young mother of a three-month-old baby. Mona regularly attended the sessions and was eager to learn more about infant care. During one discussion, she shared that she had been giving water to her baby, believing it was necessary for hydration. She also expressed concern about her baby’s frequent loose motions and admitted she was unsure how to manage it. Her intentions stemmed from genuine care, but she lacked the right information about infant feeding practices.
The Greenlam–Mamta team gently explained that breast milk provides all the fluids and nutrients an infant nex`eds for the first six months, and additional water was unnecessary, especially at this early stage. When Mona revealed that she had been giving water to help her baby’s loose motions, the team clarified possible causes and guided her on the appropriate response.
She was advised to stay well-hydrated before nursing, as maternal hydration supports healthy breast milk production. The team also reinforced the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for six months, reassuring her that breast milk alone could meet all nutritional needs. Through patient counselling and continued follow-up, Mona gained clarity and confidence in adopting the recommended practices.
In the weeks that followed, Mona reported remarkable improvements. Her baby’s health stabilised, and the frequency of loose motions reduced significantly. She embraced exclusive breastfeeding wholeheartedly and felt far more assured as a mother.
Today, Mona lives contentedly with her healthy, thriving infant and remains deeply grateful to the Greenlam–Mamta team for their timely guidance. Her story stands as a testament to how informed
