Preeti, a Grade 4 student, struggled with foundational literacy skills. She had difficulty recognising letters, often mispronounced them, and showed little interest in reading English. These challenges slowed her academic progress and affected her confidence.

The Greenlam WST Program identified Preeti’s learning barriers and introduced targeted strategies to help her overcome these challenges:

  • Innovative Learning Materials: Instead of sticking to conventional methods, the program provided engaging activities like games, puzzles, and interactive stories to spark Preeti’s interest in learning.
  • Customised Teaching Methods: Teachers tailored their instruction using visual aids and interactive exercises to match Preeti’s learning style.
  • Focus on Phonics: Special attention was given to phonics, helping Preeti learn the sounds of letters and gradually build words and sentences.

The intervention made a visible difference:

  • Improved Literacy Skills: Preeti can now identify letters, understand their sounds, and create words and sentences.
  • Increased Interest in Reading: She has developed a genuine interest in reading English and actively participates in related activities.
  • Boosted Confidence: Preeti feels proud of her progress, actively engages in class, and shows a positive attitude toward learning.

Preeti’s journey reflects the Greenlam WST Program’s ability to address students’ individual needs. By offering tailored support and fostering essential literacy skills, the program equips students with the tools they need to succeed academically and build confidence.

Her mother said, “Preeti was very weak in English. She didn’t even know how to identify letters and words, and earlier she struggled to read words and sentences correctly. Now, she has shown great improvement.”
